AN AUDIOLOGIST OR EAR DOCTOR is the professional who specializes in evaluating and treating people with hearing loss by performing hearing testing. Audiologists have extensive training and skills to evaluate the hearing of those from newborns to geriatrics. Audiologists conduct a wide variety of hearing tests to determine the exact nature of an individual’s hearing problem. They present a variety of treatment options to patients with hearing impairment as well as dispensing and fitting hearing aids, and providing hearing rehabilitation training. Hearing loss is caused by medical problems only about 10% of the time. Audiologists refer patients to physicians when the hearing problem needs medical or surgical evaluation.
WHY SHOULD AN AUDIOLOGIST EVALUATE SOMEONE WITH A HEARING LOSS? Audiologists hold masters or doctoral degrees (Doctor of Audiology) from accredited universities with special training in the prevention, identification, assessment and non-medical treatment of hearing disorders. Audiologists are required to complete a full-time internship and pass a demanding national competency examination. By virtue of their graduate education, professional certification and licensure, audiologists are the most qualified professionals to perform hearing tests, fit hearing aids, refer patients for medical treatment and provide hearing rehabilitation services.
WHY OUR AUDIOLOGISTS ARE DIFFERENT
If you've been in our office lately, you've probably heard about our proud accomplishment of becoming AudigyCertified. I wanted to share a bit more about this partnership with you. Audigy Group is comprised of the elite private practices across the country. We joined together because we share the same set of core values when it comes to patient care. Our partnership through Audigy enables us to raise the bar when it comes to delivering only the best in hearing and diagnostic services to the Freehold community.
It is through our collaborative efforts that we are able to bring the AGX Hearing Aid private-labeled brand to our patients. Did you know that there are over 1200 different types of hearing aids available today? Do you ever feel like hearing aid advertising is deceptive, misleading or too muddled to allow you and your loved ones to make informed decisions about your own health?
The audiologists in Audigy Group felt there had to be an easier way to get our patients the information and solutions they deserve. Therefore, Professional Hearing & Speech Center invested the time and money into researching ALL brands and bringing only the most patient-friendly, advanced technologies together under the AGX brand name.
