Dr. Jill Gordon, Audiologist
|
NJ Licensed Audiologist #YA00174 |
Dr. Gordon first became interested in the fields of Audiology & Speech Language Pathology at ten years of age when a speech language pathologist treated her brother for vocal nodules. During that time her brother’s communication was limited to a pencil and notepad. Seeing the frustration of her brother not being able to communicate his thoughts inspired Dr. Gordon to pursue a career in Communication Disorders and Sciences and ultimately obtain a Doctor of Audiology degree.
As a young girl Dr. Gordon avidly read about Helen Keller, Annie Sullivan and others … she began her career with internships at the Manhattan Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital as well as the Veterans Administration in New York. This was followed by a position at New Rochelle Hospital Medical Center where she worked with infant, children and geriatric patients. She then furthered her hearing aid experience at The Hearing Laboratory and moved on to the Veterans Administration in New Jersey. There she obtained extensive experience in hearing aid fittings, Electronystagmograpy & Auditory Brainstem Response Testing. Dr. Gordon has been in numerous consultations with physicians and is a frequent lecturer.
Dr. Gordon always dreamed of having a private practice and began in 1987 as the owner of Staten Island Audiological Services. There she worked with large numbers of infants, autistic and speech and language delayed children as well as children suffering from auditory processing disorders and hearing impairment. In 1997 she opened The Professional Hearing Center and ultimately expanded her practice to include speech services, thus Professional Hearing and Speech Center was created. She is fortunate to have experience with patients of all ages and enjoys the diversity of working with newborns, children and adults as well as performing all areas of diagnostic testing and hearing aid fittings.
Dr. Gordon has been evaluating children for auditory processing disorders for over 20 years. She is passionate when working with many school systems throughout New Jersey to assist children in achieving their maximum potential in spite of their auditory processing disorder.
Dr. Gordon often lectures for school systems, assisted living and other various groups. Click here to view her presentations.
