The Diagnostic Process
All evaluations begin with a detailed case history to
ascertain background information which may influence the
speech/language deficiencies. Standardized tests are used to
determine deficient areas which may contribute to a speech and
language delay. These tests selected are tailored to the
specific needs of each client. These tests coupled with the
speech pathologists diagnostic impressions enable each
therapist to complete a comprehensive evaluation of the child.
Based upon these results, recommendations are provided.
Therapy
Generally, therapy is conducted 1-3 times a week for 30 to
60 minute treatment sessions. Goals and objectives are
predetermined and executed in the treatment sessions. During
their last few minutes of each session, suggestions are made
for generalization into the home environment.
